About Us
Welcome to PUP! PUP is more than a brand - it's a way to show your love for your pup, and to create a sense of connection with others who love pups! Below is a little bit about us and why we started PUP...
Rabbi Robyn Frisch
Rabbi Robyn Frisch combined her love of Judaism with her love of dogs in early 2022 to create Mazel Pups—an online community for people who are Jewish, or Jew-ish, who love dogs. What began as a Facebook group quickly grew into a lively online presence, with a Facebook page - and her major focus for the last couple of years, an Instagram page. She also created and hosts the Mazel Pups Podcast (which is on all of the audio podcast platforms, as well as YouTube), and she is a certified Counselor for People Grieving the Loss of a Pet.
Rabbi Robyn is thrilled to now be part of PUP: Pups Uniting People with her friend Shelly, expanding the circle of dog lovers she can connect with.
She and her husband, Rabbi Seth Frisch, are the proud parents of three grown children, and they have a terrific daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Her kids have flown the nest, but her rescue pup Frankie still keeps her company. (Despite her human kids thinking she's crazy, she talks to Frankie regularly.) And she lovingly remembers her late pups Bo and Stella, who will always be in her heart and live on in her memories of them.
Shelly Shotel
Shelly Shotel is an educator and creative planner. She's the heart and brains behind Philadelphia's Izzy J Events, which designs custom themed décor for Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations.
Shelly has always loved dogs - growing up she shared life with two beloved pups, Mickey and Mandee, and she still gets great joy from memories of them. Now she’s excited to join her friend Robyn in launching PUP: Pups Uniting People, helping spread joy to dog lovers everywhere.
Shelly and her husband Howard have two wonderful kids, Jared and Izzy. Because Howard is allergic, they can’t have a dog at home, but that doesn’t stop Shelly from loving dogs.
